Mommy says I have a very orderly universe. I set them up according to their little homes. The land versus water. The land creatures eat sea creatures and sea creatures eat land creatures. So that’s why they’re separated.
They give all their offerings – they gave all their shells – to the fairy statue because it’s like she’s their god.
The sea horse hangs upside-down because he falls off of everything he sits on!
See the fish behind two other fish? It’s a family of fish and they stick together all the time and they never leave their sand box!
There’s a dolphin with a hoop to jump through. He’s always jumping through it – back and forth and back and forth. And his head keeps falling off…and so does his fin. But he’s made out of pipe cleaners, so you never expect what will happen…
And on the land, there are three cats (two girls, one boy). One cat is always licking her food. The other cat just sits there are looks at the fish (on the water side). The other cat keeps falling off her bed.
There’s a dog in a bed and the bed keeps falling over! The dog never seems to sit up unless she’s in her bed.
There’s a group of animals and they’re all staring at two teddy bears. One keeps on getting food, while the rest sit there under the tent looking at the teddy bears in the treasure chest.
My music teacher told me to write a song. I wrote a song for my dog Bonnie because I was sitting in my room, looking at the paper…and I thought of Bonnie.

my first song
Dance class teaches us shu-ffle-steps! and a little dance called “texas” and “the little green men”. We wear leotards with cute little skirts on ‘em and ballet shoes and tap shoes. I like the tap shoes better.
These are the pictures of my first day of third grade. (They’re from last month).
Third grade is fun and there’s a lot to learn. It’s little harder than second grade. The math, the writing and the science get harder.

Tomorrow is my Grandad Jackson’s birthday. I made him a fish and a boat out of clay and wrote him a card. I wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I wonder when Spongebob is ever going to get his license. Do you know mommy? He has to drive with a with a blindfold on. If nobody ever gives him a blindfold…and nobody ever does…then he can’t get his license I guess.
I’m not too little for a phone. A phone is for anyone…besides a baby. This used to be my mom’s phone and it has a squishy butterfly sticker on the back of it. I put these stickers on the back of her phone a long time ago but most of them fell off. Now there’s only one. I LOVE TEXTING!!!!
The first person I called was my brother Andrew. He said “hi Katie, do you like your new phone?” Then he sent me a text that said “Do you think your phone’s cool?” When I said “yes” he said “well YOU’RE not cool” but he spelled YOU’RE wrong!!
I’ve been texting ever since. My ring tone sounds like this: “Please pick up the phone, oh won’t you please pick up the phone?” But when people text me it sounds like this: “ding”
At first I didn’t know what OMG meant. But then I figured it out. It means OH MY GOSH!!!
there was a swimming pool with a water slide; I went on it a LOT of times
Kauai has almost 1,000 waterfalls and SO MANY chickens! Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side!
Katie to chicken; Katie to chicken: “Can you read me?”
We got to try some sugar cane. It tastes sooooo sweet! It looks like bamboo and you bite into it and you chew it but you don’t swallow it! It was delicious!
I also got a slide whistle. And I saw a horse and a BIG pile of horse poop. His owner said that the horse’s name was Barney and he was a pig! That explains why there was so much poop!
And a dead frog. And a living frog that was hoppin’ around the pool.
Bonnie thinks that she is older than me and that my mom is her mom. Bonnie thinks she’s my sister I guess. It’s kindof like Bonnie is my sister actually. It feels really weird when she’s not around.
We picked up Bonnie at the kennel today. We call it the “Barkitorium” because when Bonnie is there she just goes “bark-bark-bark-bark-bark-bark-bark” all the time. Then when she comes home, she has a sore throat and she sounds funny like this “buff-buff-buff”. I was trying to get her to bark so I could hear it but she won’t do it!
When I’m away, it’s kind of nice when I think about Bonnie because I always know what she’s doing. If I think “I wonder what Bonnie is doing right now?” I know that she’s probably chewing on her bone, or laying outside in the yard or sleeping on the couch. She’s always, you know, around. Doin’ the same stuff.

piglets do not feel like kittens
Pigs are cute and cuddly, but NOT soft. When I imagined petting one, I thought it would feel soft. But it felt like a cow. Its fur was stiff and hard. It kept grunting at me and it would squeal every time it was in the sun.
